I use Gmail and I'm unable to email a PDF of the T183 to my client. What do I need to do?

I added my Gmail account in my Window settings and that didn't work.  I added my email to my Profile Preparer information that didn't work.  I then tried under the Control Panel and my Gmail blocked this from happening.  I do not use Outlook but when I try now a pop up wants me to log in to Microsoft Office 2010 which I have not done.  This shouldn't be that difficult.  Thanks for your help.

I use Gmail and I'm unable to email a PDF of the T183 to my client. What do I need to do?

I send and receive PDF file attachments in my Gmail account all the time.

I don't send directly from my web browser.  Instead, I use an free e-mail "Client" program called eM Client, which you can download here:  https://www.emclient.com/page.aspx?contentid=homepage

I should have also mentioned that when you use the "Build a PDF", ProFile will create a password-protected file that may prevent you from opening it for Gmail. If you go to the Options, Environment, PDF tab, you can remove all the password protections you may have, and it may fix the issue.  You can also print the T183 form and scan it back into your computer in a different directory and upload it to Gmail that way.  If this doesn't fix the issue, you can e-mail me at: <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="mailto:ken@chequeitbookkeeping.ca">ken@chequeitbookkeeping.ca</a> and I'll try to help you troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks for you response.. Yes I can scan to PDF and send it through Gmail but then it's not password protected.  Being able to email from the Profile software is more efficient.  I even set up an outlook account and it's still not working.  I don't like having to use another program to get this figured out.   It shouldn't be this difficult.

Emailing from Profile software, in my opinion, doesn't work, never has in my experience.  I am assuming that you are concerned about getting signatures on the T183 to enable filing, and you can work around this in two ways. First, if you e-mail the entire PDF return to the client, they can print, sign and scan the document back to you. Or you can do what I do, use Adobe Sign, to send the T183 to the client's e-mail address in the manner I described before.  The new version of Profile blocks part of the client's SIN.  Adobe Sign has a monthly subscription price, so you can cancel after tax season is over, and it meets the CRA requirements for electronic signatures.

Ok good to know that it never has worked.  Yes I was considering Adobe Sign just for tax season.  Thanks for your help!  Stay safe!

I use Gmail and I'm unable to email a PDF of the T183 to my client. What do I need to do?

Glad to be of some assistance.  Don't forget that unless you remove the password protection, Profile will make the PDF file password protected, and Adobe Sign will not be able to upload the T183 for sending to the client.  I find it best to just print the document and scan it back to another directory to upload from Adobe.

Yes, however they have apparently failed to let people know that they have, for the past two years, allowed electronic signatures on form T1013, and on the new AUT-01, Authorization to Represent.  I found that out from the office of the Minister of Finance about 5 weeks ago.

The other problem was the manner in which Profile builds the PDF file, which makes it impossible to send with the electronic signature programs that I tried.  I had to print a copy of the form, scan it to my computer, and e-mail it with the software for signatures.

I take protecting my clients info very seriously. I have used 2 different encrypted software packages- ecourier was one, and this year I am using Portal. I print the Return to the pdf in Profile and then load it in the encrypted software for the client to open. They open the Return and sign the required paperwork and load it back in the software and return it to me. Very secure and well worth the price each year. I use it year round.

I use Gmail and I'm unable to email a PDF of the T183 to my client. What do I need to do?

Unfortunately, I have never been able to get Profile to upload a PDF file to my Adobe Sign software.  I don't appear to be the only person to have this difficulty as others have expressed difficulty getting Profile to upload their file to Gmail e-mail client.

I'd like to see Intuit incorporate some kind of electronic signature software into Profile.  It might be well worth a small increase in the program cost.

I use Gmail and I'm unable to email a PDF of the T183 to my client. What do I need to do?

Bill... I found eCourier to be too difficult for my customer's to use.  I take protecting my clients info seriously  as well - when I saw the news that Profile is able to password protect a PDF within the program I was excited to hear this.  I was surprised I wasn't able to attach it to my Gmail.  I can't justify the cost of Adobe or Docusign for only a couple months out of the year and they would have to download an app or program to get it signed.  Having the ability to attach a password protected file to Gmail would be wonderful.

I use Gmail and I'm unable to email a PDF of the T183 to my client. What do I need to do?

krsbusiness.roxa ... by way of clarification, Adobe Sign has a monthly subscription for $14.99, and you can cancel any time.  Client does not have to download anything, and no cost to them.  Adobe sign sends the document to them, they open & sign on their phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop, and it is transmitted back to you, no cost to client.

I do support your comment that Profile PDF files cannot be attached to Gmail.

Ken, When you use adobe sign do you have to log into the Adobe portal and upload the 183? or can you email the 183 straight through A acrobat reader/editor installed on a PC?

Hi, thank you for using Intuit ProFile Community

ProFile will only directly attach a PDF to an e-mail with Outlook desktop. For online software you must generate a PDF they manually attach the PDF to an e-mail.

Information can be found here

Hope this helps

I use Gmail and I'm unable to email a PDF of the T183 to my client. What do I need to do?

I hadn't tried going straight through because I didn't have Adobe software except the free reader.

I gave up on Adobe and switched to Docusign when Profile partnered with them. Docusign seems to be more user friendly than Adobe sign.

I honestly have not done any tax stuff with the new upgrade, however, I have encountered some issues in the past with not being able to send password protected PFD files.  You might check to see whether your password protection is set to the on position.

Are you getting any sort of error message when you try to send PFD's with EMclient?

I upgraded to a new laptop a while back, and bought the Microsoft Office package, so I am using MS Outlook, and have not used EM client for quite a while now.
