Profile won't allow me to e-file authorize a rep form for my new client with no first name.
However it allows to eFile those returns.
Please no answer like "Contact Profile support", which I already did and did not received answer yet.
I have same problem, several signed authorization forms waiting to be Efiled.
Did you get it resolved. would appreciate knowing if you were able to Efile these authorizations.
Not yet, Profile has not replied to to my query.
I sent this issue thru feedback and generated case over the phone also little while ago but no response yet.
We received the following from CRA:
Individuals with one name would be able to authorize a representative using the Manage Authorized Representative service in My Account or by completing form AUT-01 Authorize a Representative for Offline Access
There is no ETA for when CRA's system will accommodate it for Auth requests in the software.
Thanks for Input, Mario, as always you did not provide solution to the subject issue.
Hello Profile Team. I hope this will be resolved with CRA before tax time starts so we can use these sevices at tax team.
No updates yet..!
As per CRA telecon, the software needs to take care of this.
Profile team, please take care of this. It is very frustrating at tax time as we can't access their info. because of No Represenation. Hopefully your team will solve it with CRA.
We have received No updates for this issue yet..!

New Tax Season is approaching and its painful to work with manual authorization process during the busy season..
I was using DTMAX prior to using Profile several years back and there was no issue for such filing.
If this can be prioritize and resolved will be of great help.
Thanks and Regards.

Sorry Vipul, we are not expecting any changes from CRA regarding this this year.
Its frustrating to receive irrelevant answers, Mario.
You did not even care to read my issue and Chat communication before replying.
As mentioned in one of the thread, as per my talk with CRA in December 2024 , the software needs to take care of this.
Hence It is not CRA to change anything, but it is Profile Software Team to fix the team like the other Competitor software DTMax fixed this way back prior to year 2022.
Regards.

Hi Vipul,
Plese review my post from may 2024, I do not have any other infos than this.... If I had, I would gladly share with you!
We received the following from CRA:
Individuals with one name would be able to authorize a representative using the Manage Authorized Representative service in My Account or by completing form AUT-01 Authorize a Representative for Offline Access
There is no ETA for when CRA's system will accommodate it for Auth requests in the software.
CRA mentioned "If you don’t have a family name on your passport, travel or identity document, enter all your given name(s) in the surname field and leave the given name field blank."
The issue is Profile does not accept this and allow to file.
Software team should find out how other software are dealing with this.
If you do not have further information, than please leave it open to be resolved, instead of reply without resolution.
Regards.
Vipul.
Thats not CRA, this is immigration and citizenship Canada

Not sure, you may be right or wrong,
But this what I got from CRA on call. I do not have verbatim of it.
If you want, we can jointly talk to CRA and confirm.
Also, meanwhile please check other software mentioned in the chat which I used it in past without this issue.
Let us leave it open till it can be resolved.
Thanks.
Vipul.
AUT-01 is for offline access. During tax season we need online access to find missing/lost T4's, get clients NOA etc. I also contacted CRA so we can resolve this before tax season as we have about 50 clients from last year and we will have more this year with this issue. CRA agent said it is not a CRA issue, program we are using is probable not making it eligible to efile. We are able to Efile return but not Represent A Client which is frustrating.
Hi Sunny
Individuals with one name would be able to authorize a representative using the Manage Authorized Representative service in My Account. In other words, it means that your clients can authorize a rep through their CRA Account. If they filed last year there should be a way for your clients to set up My Account
Hello Mario,
I already mentioned that your solution is not what we are looking for.
The issue is Profile does not accept this and allow to file.
Software team should find out how other software are dealing with this.
If you do not have further information, than PLEASE PLEASE leave it open to be resolved, instead of reply without resolution.
Nothing Personal but Hope you understand the value of time and STOP annoying Communication.
Regards.
Vipul.
This is putting the onus on Clients. We already have clients come this year and they say they don't have My Account and won't be getting it (language issue, not knowing what My Account is and won't know how to use it, don't have acess to computer or never used computer)
I was hoping that there will be a solution for the problem this year.
Last year was the first year CRA allowed us to file return leaving the first name blank but they were not accepting the authorization. I had asked Efile Association to bring the issue with CRA officials but no words from them either. I hope CRA comes with a solution for this and profile includes the solution in their new update.
Thank you for doing it, appreciate your efforts. Let us wait for results.
Other issue still not resolved is that here we are March 6th but still can't Efile any return with S3 as it is still in draft. Clients are not happy.
