How can I fix bank error 106? It's asking whether I have closed the bank account but I haven't.

I'll make sure you'll be able to access your bank transactions, @cdearthmoving-gm.

The error message you received means that QuickBooks is unable to locate your Bank or Financial Institution (FI). This usually happens when the account is closed.

In your case, since you haven't closed it, I recommend contacting your bank and check for any updates. Changes made from them can hindrance the connection between your bank and QuickBooks.

Furthermore, can you share with me the name of your bank? This way, I can gather more information about it and provide you the best fix. Any additional details can help us narrow things down.

In the meantime, let's refresh the connection of your bank to isolate this. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear profile icon in your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account.
  2. Select Bank accounts.
  3. Then click Refresh all2.PNG

You can also read through this article for more insights on how to fix this (though its for QuickBooks Online (QBO), the workflow is the same for QBSE): Fix bank error 106.

Moreover, you can manually upload your bank transactions and categorise them whenever you're ready. To be guided, feel free to check out these links:
