Where has the "Connect to PayPal" app gone?

I have read numerous posts by QuickBooks referring to "Connect to PayPal" and "Connect to PayPal 2.0" app.  They include instructions on how to download the app and use it.  Some of these include links (which are broken) to where you can download the app, but it seems this app does not exist. Does anyone know where it has gone?

The reason I am trying to use this app is to get around a 2FA problem I am getting with a "Connected Bank" with PayPal.  The account won't sync unless you give it a 2FA code.  This defeats the purpose of automating the PayPal transactions into QBO if you have to manually authenticate every day.  Apparently the Connect to PayPal app gets around that 2FA connection issue, but I can't find the app to try it out.

Any help locating this or letting me know a work around for the 2FA issue is greatly appreciated!

Where has the "Connect to PayPal" app gone?

You can integrate with Accept Payments with PayPal on the Apps menu, Steve. I can show you how while sharing some information regarding the 2FA code.

You'll need an Australian PayPal business account to use this app. This allows you to pay invoices by credit/debit card powered by PayPal payments while accounting is in QuickBooks Online. Take note that merchant transaction fees apply for receiving online payments.

Here's how to do that:

  1. Go to the Apps menu on the left panel.
  2. Select the Find apps tab, then search for the Accept Card Payments with PayPal app.
  3. Follow the on-screen process to grant permission for PayPal to connect to QuickBooks, then return to QBO.
  4. Confirm the Chart of Account name you would like payments to be collected, then hit Next.
  5. Choose the Chart of Account name for the PayPal fees category, then tap Done.

After that, proceed to Part 2 of this article to enable PayPal to sync your transactions into the program: Set up the Accept Card Payments with PayPal app in QuickBooks Online.

It's also worth noting that there's no workaround for the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) code process to comply with modern security standards and provide extra protection against password theft. If you'd like to disable this feature, follow the steps in the Turn off two-step verification section of this guide: Secure your Intuit Account and prevent lockout with extra verification methods.

Feel free to reach out to us again if you have follow-up questions about connecting your PayPal account or managing verification methods. We'll be here to provide more resources.

Where has the "Connect to PayPal" app gone?

Thank you for the detailed response Jamaica. I have installed it and set it up. Fingers crossed this will work. Sounds promising.  Seems 2FA for PayPal will not be an issue too which is what I wanted to resolve. Curiously though I did note you haven’t answered the question where the “Connect with PayPal” app has gone?  Considering so many Quickbooks articles and posts refer to it and link to it (all broken), these articles probably should be updated.

Where has the "Connect to PayPal" app gone?

Hi there, Steve.

QuickBooks has updated its payment integration from Connect to PayPal to the PayPal Connector for new users. However, this change primarily affects other regions such as the United States.

As a result of this update, some links and articles have been revised, while others may have been archived. This explains why you encountered broken links, as some information in those articles or posts could be outdated.

In your region, to receive payments in QuickBooks via PayPal, you can connect by selecting Accept Payments with PayPal in the Apps menu. Please follow the steps provided by my colleague to integrate this with your QuickBooks account.
