I have reconciled an account, but have since deleted a transaction. Can I unreconcile the account?

I'd be glad to assist you with unreconciling your account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), alison.

If you’re currently using QuickBooks Online Accountant, you can utilize the Undo a reconciliation feature to unreconcile previous reconciliations without the need to manually edit individual transactions in the register.

However, if you’re using a different version, you'll need to manually undo reconciled transactions one at a time. Here's how:

  1. Select the Accounting menu.
  2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the account holding the transaction and then click View Register.
  4. Choose the transaction you want to unreconcile to expand the view.
  5. Review the check column and if the transaction is reconciled, you’ll see an “R.”
  6. Select the box and keep clicking it until it's blank. It removes the transaction from the reconciliation.

  7. Once done click Save and close the account register.

After unreconciling, you can reconcile the transactions again. You can also check this resource to guide you on how to handle reconciliation: Learn the reconciliation workflow in QuickBooks.

I've added here an article that will help you in case you encounter reconciliation issues: Fix issues when you're reconciling accounts.

Get back to me if you need help with reconciliation or anything QuickBooks. I'd be happy to assist. Enjoy the rest of the day!
