Trying to reconcile bank account and it won’t accept my ending date

Thanks for contacting the Community, Fgandrews. I'm here to ensure that you get properly assisted with entering your ending date when reconciling your bank account with QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To start with, please note that the Last Statement Ending Date is the end date of your last reconciliation. The current bank statement should start the day after that. To ensure that we've followed the correct process, let me guide you through the steps to reconcile your bank account:

  1. Go to Settings and then Reconcile. If you're reconciling for the very first time, select Get Started.
  2. From the Account ▼ dropdown, select the account you want to reconcile. Make sure it's the same one on your statement.
  3. Review the Beginning Balance.
  4. Enter the Ending Balance and Ending Date on your statement. Some banks call the ending balance a "new balance" or a "closing balance."
  5. If you see it, review the Last Statement Ending Date.
  6. When you're ready to start, select Start Reconciling.

If you've followed these steps and still face issues when entering your ending date, let's troubleshoot your account. The problem may be related to your browser. I suggest opening your QBO account in a private browser, which will ignore any historical data. This will help us determine if the issue is with your browser or elsewhere.

These are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If the error is fixed after this, then the issue is likely caused by your browser. You'll want to clear your regular browser cache. Another option is to use other supported browsers.

I'll be including this helpful resource that provides additional information on this process: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online
