Can I link my QuickBooks data to ATO for tax purposes

Hello nichomampana-yah,

You can connect your QuickBooks Online account with the ATO to enable direct BAS lodgement. Make sure to enable GST in QuickBooks Online first. Here's how:

  1. Click on the GST tab, click on Get started.
  2. Choose your Accounting method and BAS lodgement frequency.
  3. If you're required to lodged PAYG Withholding and PAYG Instalments tick box and select your reporting frequency.
  4. Click on Save and finish.

Once done, click on Connect to the ATO button. And you'll be prompted to fill out a few information to complete the process. Take note of your unique software ID for BAS and then call the ATO or log in to your Access manager to complete the set up.

Option 1: Call the ATO (recommended)

  1. Call 1300 85 22 32.
  2. Follow the instructions for nominating a software provider.
  3. Enter your tax file number.
  4. Tell the agent you need to add a new hosted service with Exactor*, ABN 61 612 826 605.
  5. Provide your software ID (found in QuickBooks inside the Connect to the ATO screen) to the ATO agent.
  6. Back in QuickBooks Online GST Centre, tick the I've set up the ATO connection box and select Next.

QuickBooks has partnered with Exactor to enable electronic lodgement of BAS directly from QuickBooks for Australian customers.

Option 2: Login to Access Manager

  1. The previous steps will take you to the ATO Access Manager.
  2. Sign in to the ATO Access Manager using your MyGovID.
  3. On the left of the dashboard, choose My Hosted SBR Software Services.
  4. Select Notify the ATO of your hosted service.
  5. Select Exactor* from the list of software service providers.
  6. Enter your software ID (found in QuickBooks inside the Connect to the ATO screen) and select Next.
  7. Review the information and select Save.
  8. Back in QuickBooks, navigate back to the GST tab and re-select the Connect to the ATO Button
  9. Select the Login to Access Manager Box and select Next.
  10. Select the I've set up the ATO connection box, then Next.

Once fully set up you'll be able to lodged your BAS from QBO to the ATO.
