Thanks for joining the Intuit Community, LAU1.

Yes, you can change the Number format feature to show the correct decimal points. I’ll be your guide on how to update the settings.

  1. Open your QBO company first.
  2. In the upper right-hand, click on the Gear icon and choose the Account and Settings option.

  3. Go to the Advanced panel, click on the Pencil icon for Other preferences to update the decimal points.

  4. From the Number format drop-down, choose the format you want to use on the transaction.

  5. Click on Save and Done.

When creating an invoice, the amount should show the correct decimal points.

I’m also adding a link where you can get tips on how to grow your business: QuickBooks Resource Centre.

Keep me posted on how things go after following the troubleshooting steps. I want to ensure you’re all set with this concern. Have a good one.

I had already tried that but it did not work. It all looked okay until I previewed the invoice and instead of an amount of $7.00 it then showed that each item was valued at $6.3635922 for instance which was the amount of the GST taken from it but even if I have it as inclusive of GST as $7.00 on the invoice it takes it off in the rate column

Hi there, LAU1.

If you set up the product/service item's rate for $6.3635922 and you choose the Inclusive of Tax option, the same rate/amount will show in the Rate and Amount columns. Cases like this, it would be best to contact our Customer Support Team. They'll help you review the set up for GST and the item to come up with the amount you need when creating the transaction.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Click Help on the top menu.
  2. Choose Contact us.
  3. Under What can we help you with?, enter your concern.
  4. Click Let's talk.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us through Message an agent or Get a callback.
