Changing reflected amount

Welcome to the Community, Heynay89.

If you're referring to a bill from your contractor, I'd be glad to help you record it partially in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

After a contractor accepts a purchase order and sends the product, you can partially record it as a bill in QBO. It connects several transactions with the same purchase order. To do that:

  1. Go to + New and select Bill.
  2. From the Payee dropdown, select the contractor. Doing so opens a window with their open purchase orders.
  3. Select Add for the correct purchase order. It adds the items from the purchase order and appears in the Item Details section.
  4. Adjust the quantity or amount for each line item to reflect the portion you received or plan to pay for. In your case, enter the 50% amount of the total bill.
  5. Select Save and Close.

Furthermore, QBO makes it simple to record business expenses. Doing so provides a complete picture of your company's profitability. Here's an article on how to handle them accordingly: Enter and manage expenses in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to reply in this thread if you need additional help about partially paying a contractor bill. I'm always available around the clock to assist you further. Have a nice day ahead!
