Greetings, @usercleanedbyclaires.
You can easily change the default email message when sending invoices to customers. I can guide you on how to do it.
You can read through this article for more detailed steps in personalizing your invoices: Create invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed
Let me know if you have other concerns in the comments below. I'll get back and take care of them for you.
I have tried on my PC and Mobile I have a green circle with. White plus sign o press that and it allows me to create an invoice
I have only two options which is to choose a customer which I can add a new one if needed and add a service no customise optio. Or any other options on the screen. The only way I van change the message is preview the invoice and email and add the that email which does not save for next time
Hello, usercleanedbyclaires.
You can customize the email message by clicking the View under drop-down arrow. Then under Send reminder drop-down arrow and click Preview.
I'll be attached a screenshots for visual purposes.
Let me know if you need anything else or you have further question. I'm just a post away. Stay safe!
I am also having the same issue as the original poster and your solution does not work. None of the tabs and options you are showing in your screenshot exist on my page. There is no option to customize, no option to make recurring, no option to print or preview. What you are showing is completely different from what I am given by my QBSE program.
Hello, Lindles.
The first answer I respond is for QuickBooks Online. However, I already update my answer and shared a screenshots for QuickBooks Self-Employed.
If you'll still unable to locate the Email message or Preview, we can isolate this case using a private window to verify if this is related to your browser issue.
There are times that the browser stores frequently-accessed data, thus causing some errors or unusual behavior.
Let's try logging in to your QuickBooks Self-Employed account using a private or a different browser. Here's how:
If it's works, you'll need to clear the browser's cache. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Or you can use other compatible browsers. It could be that the one you're currently working on has a temporary issue with QuickBooks.
If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to comment below. Have a great day!
Hi Lindles,

I am looking for alkternative softeware that can manage my invocies as i dont thoink theres enough flexability in self employed.
Hi UserCleanedbyClaires,
Thank you for getting back to us on this and I am sorry that's how you feel.
I tried following AileneA's instructions and I was able to find the customise button on my invoice in my QBSE test file to edit the email message.
I would suggest contacting our QBSE support team for additional assistance if you are still experiencing difficulties in doing so. Here is their contact detail:

Thank you and please let us know if you require any additional assistance.
Why doesn't it save the invoice message I write when I save the invoice as a draft. For some dumb reason it always resorts back to the default message whenever I go in to edit the invoice. What's the point of saving a draft if it changes back to default whenever you open the draft???
Hi Lindles,
Thank you for reaching out on this and welcome to our community.
I did a test in my test file and I was able to save changes made in the message section by clicking on Save as draft.
I would suggest trying it again in incognito mode of Chrome browser or the Private mode of Firefox.
Thank you and please let us know if you require any additional assistance.
We have just discovered that one of my employees has been send edited messages for years, but on her computer only it reverts to the original message. Is there a setting she can change to stop this?
Let's make sure your employee will be able to change the message for invoicing, Slarty.
For now, you'll have to manually change the email message when sending invoices to your customers. As what @Intuit Zac mentioned, you can click on the Save as draft option on the message section to successfully change them. You can use a private browser to make sure it doesn't revert back to the original message.
However, if the same thing happens, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can investigate further. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment and check what causing the issue.

Hi,
This is what she is doing, but when she sends the message it reverts back to the template. Hers is the only computer in the office that reverts back, all the other terminals works fine.
On Quickbooks Desktop -
Set to single mode
Select Edit - Preferences
Select 'Send Forms' - then go to Company Preferences
Basic invoice will show as default, but you will need to create a new template with the customization of your desire, this is where you can edit the email invoice message, and finally, set it as default.
