I need to catergorise a banking transaction correctly. I bought a motor vehicle and need to catergorise the equity cash I took from the account to pay for part of it

Let me help categorise your bank transaction, kristyjansz.

 

QuickBooks Online lets you review downloaded transactions where you can assign a payee and categorise them.

 

That being said, use the steps outlined below to add a category:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select the account where entries are downloaded.

  3. Click the transaction to expand it.
  4. Select the desired category from the Category drop-down list.
  5. Click Add once ready to post this item to your account in QuickBooks.

I encourage consulting this with your accountant to ensure the entry falls under the correct category. He/She might have specific instructions on which account to use for the item.
