After upgrade and migration from QBOSE to QB E my client has 2 company files showing at log in, but only 1 works. How do we remove reference to the first please?

He has QB Self Employed, then migrated to QB Essentials. However, both companies show at log in. How do we remove the reference to the SE file?

I appreciate you for reaching out to us here in the Community, @d-chaffen. I'll help you with removing your client's company file that's a reference to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Multiple company files will show up on one log in if both companies have the same login credentials. To remove the unwanted file, you can cancel its subscription. Once done, the system will automatically delete the file after a year.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online (QBO) as a master admin using a web browser.
  2. Select the company file, then go to the Gear icon.
  3. Tap on Account and settings.
  4. Go to the Billing & Subscription tab.
  5. In the QuickBooks section, select Cancel subscription or Cancel online. If you're cancelling a trial, select Cancel trial.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

And, here's how to cancel QBO purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription.

Otherwise, if you need to remove the file as soon as possible, I recommend reaching out to our Support Team for further assistance. A live representative can look into your account securely and detach the company file.

When everything is in place, you can now get started working with QBO. For more resources, you can open the topics from this link: Related Resources for QBO AU.
