Been a while since I first posted this, and understand the separation of charges EXCEPT for the bit where the QBO subscription price didn't reduce at all to reflect the feature removed with its own charges.
Regardless, given the increasing price, as well as the lack of surety about what else might change to my plan or the features without warning in future, at the start of this financial year I moved to different accounting software.
Hi Neil,
Thank you for reaching out on this and sorry to hear that's how you feel.
If you are on the Standard Payroll plan without Award and Rostering, the payroll charge would only occur when you process pay runs in QuickBooks Online.
Hope this helps, and please let us know if you require any additional assistance.
I understand the new pricing approach, but I still need to do payroll and this change would take my current monthly subscription cost from $50 to $75 - a significant increase for a micro business.
Not a great way to maintain customer trust, creating an effective rate increase of 50%, on top of the 25% increase last year when the monthly subscription went from $40 to $50.
All with no apparent associated extra features or functionality
Thank you for getting back to us on this, Neil.
We don’t take these price changes lightly as we know how important cash flow is to business owners. However, by charging separately for accounting and payroll, we can continue to invest in feature enhancements for both our accounting and payroll offerings to reduce your admin time and improve your efficiency. Recent updates include QuickBooks cash flow, receipt capture and jobkeeper 2.0 payroll updates. For a full list of updates, please view our product roadmap.
