STP Phase 2

Hello fairfield-impex,

Lodging your pay event and updating them in STP Phase 2 is the same process as lodging the usual STP in QuickBooks Online Payroll. You'll have to check the following information entered in QuickBooks Online Payroll to help you prepare for STP Phase 2.

Here's the check list to need to make:

If you've verified and update the settings above, then you're all set for STP Phase 2. We'd recommend checking the articles below to learn more about STP Phase 2:

STP Phase 2

Thanks.  Luckily my pay categories are unaffected.  I have updated termination reasons.  But I am not too sure how to update employee to status as the info required is very much known to employees.  Is it something that is available to employees on their portal? If not, what is the definition of various statements?

Thanks for getting back to us, fairfield-impex!

If you're referring to updating the employee's tax file declaration information, only employers can update the information in the QuickBooks Online Payroll. The new addition to the tax file declaration are as follows:

  • STP Tax Category
  • Medical Levy

You'll have to verify the information with your employee based on the online or paper tax file declaration they sent you if there are changes or none on their tax settings. Each employee must have the correct tax settings for the payroll to generate the correct tax code combination on the STP pay event.

You can always reply to this post if you have more questions about QuickBooks Online Payroll. Have a nice day!
