QB online does not have the functionality required for the business needs of a customer who has used it for almost 2 years. (Deferred GST, CRYPTO trading and a number of other deficiencies).  I have read the help articles and it advises that before discontinuing the subscription you should download the file and set up in Desktop version for historical access.  Data will be deleted from Online a year after subscription is discontinued. Then I discover there is no Desktop version for Australia.  My Question (finally) what is the recommended method to save historical data for Australian Companies before discontinuing subscription?

Hello there, @Skeksis. Thanks for visiting us here today.

I have some information about creating a backup copy of your QuickBooks Online (QBO) file. While we can't backup copies for QBO, you'll want to check for a third-party application. This way, you can back up and restore them anytime.

On the other hand, you can export your data file and import them when you're ready. Here's how.

To export:

  1. Go Gear at the top.
  2. Choose Export Data.
  3. You'll be asked why you're exporting. Pick an answer and tap Continue.
  4. In the Export Data window, select the data that you'd like to send to Excel.
  5. Click Export to Excel.

To import:

  1. Go the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Import Data.
  3. Pick the data block to import, then browse for the file.
  4. Follow the steps that'll guide you to the rest.

See these articles below for your reference:

I'm also adding this link to help you with other QBO-related tasks. It has our general topics with articles: View all help for QBO.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with. I'll be around for you. Take care and stay safe.

An answer as disappointing as the software.
