Is QuickBooks Online Advanced available in Australia?

Thanks for your quick response. Also, I want to know if we choose to go with AU QBO PLUS now and a requirement arise in future to increase the number of users more than 5, will it be possible to migrate the data to US QBO ADVANCED without hassle?

When upgrading your subscription to a higher level, there's not much you need to do when it comes to your data. We are only changing the subscription you are currently subscribed under the said account. Thus, you don't need to worry about any hassle when doing it.

After upgrading your subscription to Advanced, you can already add more users and manage their roles. Here are some links related to the users and their roles:

So even if it is from Australian QBO PLUS to American QBO ADVANCED there's no additional effort when migrating the data right?

We're unable to migrate your data from an Australian (AU) version of QuickBooks Online to the United States (U.S.). If you need to subscribe to QuickBooks Online Advanced, you'll have to manually transfer the data.

Also, please note that we can only export and import lists, like Chart of Accounts, Vendors, Customers, and Product and Services from one company file to another. Please check these articles for more info about export and import data:

In addition, you can look for a third-party migrator. Visit the Apps tab to see the list of supported applications.

You may open a QBO Plus AU version for now

Once you need to give access for more than 5 users, you may have 3 options:

1. Migrate data to QBO Advanced

2. Migrate data to QBD Enterprise US version (you may have up to 40 users)

3. Keep using QBO Plus AU + one or two 3rd party apps to integrate with it. e.g you may consider to have a CRM app for your sales team and they don't need to have any access to your QBO account. 

If you decide migrating data to QBO Advanced/QBD Enterprise, you may have 2 options:

1. Utilize a migration tool

2. Purchase a 3rd party conversion service.

I'm not sure about Australia, but with the UK VAT system, you have to deduct input VAT from output VAT and then only pay over the difference. Can QBO Advanced be tweaked to cater for that, since by default it uses US GST?

Many Asian countries are adopting VAT Input and VAT Output, and the QBO Global version supports this requirement. If you are considering using QBO Advanced to manage that requirement, you should use the General Journal. As a simple solution, you can record VAT Input in the same account as Sales Tax/VAT Output to get the net amount of Tax Payable. But I would recommend separating accounts for various purposes once you need those numbers for tax reporting.

The real question is if your company is located in Australia, why would you consider using QBO Advanced?

I only mentioned Australia as an example because it was mentioned in the thread.

My enquiry is actually for Botswana which has a VAT system like the UK.

Coming now to QBO Global, I am only now learning from your reply that a Global Version exists. It's been a well kept secret. Where can I get more information about it?

You can open the trial version for QB Online Global version for Botswana. Make sure you don't submit any credit card credential to utilize it.
