Hi swbp,
QuickBooks Online is dependent on the information downloaded from your bank. You can only edit an amount of a downloaded bank transaction if it is already added and categorised in the For Review tab. Let me show you how to do add/categorise a bank transaction.
You can view the newly added bank transaction by clicking on the Magnifying glass or Search icon located on the upper right corner. Once you open the transaction, you'll be able to edit and enter the correct amount.
Also, you can exclude the transaction from the Banking tab and manually import the transaction with the correct amount.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'd be glad to help. Have a great day!

thanks for the reply. Had an 'ah ha' moment overnight and woke up this morning knowing what was wrong. I am battling COVID at the moment so head is all over the place.
I have to manually upload the statement, changing it from a PDF to a CSV to upload. There were comma's instead of full stops on 2 entries, hence the incorrect amounts.
I excluded them, and then uploaded correctly. Have made a mental note to look closer at the figures before importing.
Again, thank you.
Hoping for your recovery soon, swbp!
Great find on what's causing the error for incorrect amounts on your bank transactions. It's always a good idea to review your CSV file making sure the data is accurate. Also, you can check this article about importing bank transactions via CSV file.
