If you wanted to manually record the payroll payments you've made, you can create either an expense or journal entry transaction in QuickBooks Online. When recording the expense or journal entry, you can use the wage expense account in QuickBooks. Other than that, I'd recommend contacting your accountant to get more information on what balancing account to use in manually recording the payroll.
QuickBooks Online Payroll is an optional add-on feature that helps you record payroll payments and lodge information to the ATO through Single Touch Payroll. PAYGW figures are also exported from your payroll and reported to your BAS or IAS in QuickBooks if you're using the payroll add-on feature.
Also, you can check this link to learn more about Getting Started with QuickBooks Online and go to the section Enable QuickBooks Payroll on file.
