PAYG Witholding Payable is not an option for the Default PAYG liability account. How do I add it?

Payroll Default PAYG liability account is PAYG Liability. When I do the BAS/IAS it comes from PAYG Withholding Payable. How do I make them match, when PAYG Withholding Payable is not an option in the Default settings?

We can import the PAYG Withholding Payable account as an external account to include in the list, pinkfrogmilk.

The PAYG Liability account is linked automatically to QuickBooks, but the PAYG Withholding Payable account is not available for account mapping by default.

To include it, let's update your Chart of Accounts:

  1. Go to Payroll, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. Click on Chart of Accounts, then click Default Accounts.
  3. In the upper-right corner of your screen, click Import Accounts.
  4. Scroll down and enable PAYG Withholding Payable to add it to the list.

  5. Click Save Accounts List.
  6. Under Default Accounts, locate the PAYG Liability Account and select PAYG Withholding Payable from the list.
  7. Once done, click Save.

Additionally, I recommend this article to help resolve discrepancies between the GST or PAYG Withholding (PAYGW) amounts on your Prepare BAS screen and those in your reports: What to do when BAS amounts look incorrect.
