Hi
My company is GST exempt. Quickbooks is trying to verify my tax location by asking me for my GST ID. I do not have a GST ID, I only have a UEN number. Does anyone know how do I change this?
Thanks
Hi @Vivipoh28. The Singapore version of QuickBooks Online doesn't have a dedicated UEN field. Instead, the GST ID field serves as the placeholder for your business registration number. Simply enter your UEN in the Company name or modify the GST ID field to ensure it appears on your legal documents, provided you aren't misrepresenting yourself as GST-registered.
QuickBooks will always display your Company Name on every report and invoice. Adding the UEN here is the most effective workaround. To start, go to Gear icon and then Account and Settings. In the Company, edit the Company name section and enter the name along with your UEN. Once done, click Save.
This bypasses the need for a specific UEN field entirely and ensures the number appears at the top of all documents.
If you prefer the UEN to sit in its own dedicated line, you'll need to modify the GST field and relabel it in your template settings. Go to Settings and then Custom form styles. Edit your template and then select Content and click the Header section of the preview. Find the box for GST ID and change the Label text to UEN or Reg No.
By using the Company Name workaround or the Custom Form Style relabeling, you move from a search for a non-existent field to a legally compliant document. This ensures that your source of truth correctly displays your UEN as required by Singapore law, without the risk of being penalized by IRAS for falsely displaying a GST registration.

Hi
thank you for your reply. I've tried your suggestion but it didn't work. Quickbooks still require me to enter a GST ID. Not sure what else I can do. See image enclosed.
All my sales/Purchase order form includes my company UEN. And I have been using quickbooks since 2019 and never had an issue. Only recently they asked for my GST ID include to verify tax location.

If the issue persists, you can reach out to our Live Support Team for a closer look at your account. They can help you out through screen sharing, so we can safely check your account and figure out the issue with the GST ID.
To reach out to them, click the Help button in the top-right corner of your QuickBooks Online screen. Then, click on the Assistant tab and type Contact Us and follow the prompts.
