A typical browser's cache stores information from previous websites you've visited. However, as it collects data, it might cause performance issues in QuickBooks Online (QBO). This could be the reason you're unable to save the transaction when you receive the payment against an invoice.
Let's perform some steps to help fix this issue. You'll first have to log in to your QBO account using a private browser. It helps isolate the issue since it doesn’t store data in the cache. Here are the following keyboard shortcuts:
From there, go to the Receive Payment screen and then click Save and close. If it works, clear the cache of your regular browser. This helps the program to boost its performance. If not, I'd suggest using other supported browsers.
You can always run the Invoices and Received Payments report. This lets you view all your invoices and their associated payments within a specific period. Just go to Reports from the left menu. Then, enter the report name as seen in the screenshot below.
I'm just a post away if there's anything else you need. Happy holidays, @finance60.
