Learn how to fix error 15106 when you update QuickBooks Desktop.
If you see one of these errors, your antivirus app blocked your QuickBooks update or you aren’t signed in as the Windows admin user.
- Error 15106: The update program cannot be opened or
- Error 15106: The update program is damaged
Here’s how to fix these errors and update QuickBooks Desktop successfully.
Solution 1: Sign in to your computer as an admin
Note: If you have a QuickBooks Desktop payroll subscription turned on, download the latest tax table after every step to keep your payroll info isn't accurate.
- Right-click on QuickBooks Desktop, then select Run as Administrator.
- Try to update QuickBooks.
If you see the same error and you have an antivirus app installed, continue to Solution 2.
If you see the same error and don't have an antivirus app, re-install QuickBooks Desktop in Selective Startup.
