UNDO a reconciliation

In accountant view I can not undo a reconciliation - it doesn't show up as an option in my online account.

UNDO a reconciliation

We're glad to have you here in the Community, @JSD2023. I'll share some information to help you undo reconciled accounts in QuickBooks.

The option to undo a reconciled account without manually doing them is only available in the QuickBooks Online Accountant version.

Here's how:

  1. In QBOA, go to your client's list.
  2. Find and open your customer's QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  3. Once you're in their company file, go to the Gear icon.
  4. Select Reconcile under the Tools column.
  5. Click on History by account on the Reconcile an accountant.
  6. On the History by account page, click the Account and Report period to locate the reconciliation to undo.
  7. Choose Undo under the Action column and tap Yes.
  8. Click Undo and OK.

Otherwise, if you don't have this option, it's possible that you're not using a QBOA version. However, we can manually edit each transaction to undo the reconciliation. To begin with:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the appropriate account for the transaction and select View Register under the Action column.
  3. Choose the transaction to edit.
  4. On the reconcile status column, click the top line of the transaction repeatedly to change the status:
  • - Cleared.
  • R - Reconciled.
  • Blank - Not cleared or reconciled.
    5. Select Save.

You can check out this link for more information: Undo or remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

Once you're all good with your accounts, you can close your books to prevent unwanted changes before filing your taxes. This way, it secures your books to unable someone from editing your accounting data.

I'd be glad to hear more from you, JSD2023. Feel free to reply below if you have any other QuickBooks-related concerns. Keep safe and have a good day!

UNDO a reconciliation

I'm confused.  Is there a QBO accountant version or is there is only one version with both a business view and an accountant view.  I am in a version where I can switch between these 2 views and I am an admin accountant. If I should have the privilege then there is no undo option only the print option.

Let me shed some light on the different QuickBooks Online (QBO) versions, especially the Undo function.

Currently, we have the Simple Start, Essentials, and Plus versions. While QBO Accountant is only available in certain regions.

Also, the Business and Accountant view are the two user views you can use while working in the online program.

The former enables you to perform accounting tasks without having to learn complex accounting terms or processes. The latter makes use of accounting terminology. Here's a detailed explanation of how each one works: Switch between Business and Accountant view in QuickBooks Online.

The Undo function is available only in the accountant's version. You can find more detailed information in the following reference: Undo a client's reconciliation in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

As mentioned by my peer, you'll have to undo your reconciliation one at a time if you don't have the Undo option. I still recommend following the instructions shared above.
