WHEN I TRY TO RECONCILE, I AM GETTING INCREASED AMOUNT INSTEAD OF $0.00

There are possible reasons why you're getting a positive amount during reconciliation. I'll discuss further details and share steps to reconcile your account, Penny.

  • The ending balance was entered incorrectly at the start of the reconciliation.
  • Some transactions in QuickBooks haven't cleared the bank yet.
  • There are missing or duplicate transactions in QuickBooks.

To fix this, ensure that you have entered the correct statement ending balance and statement ending date, as this may be the reason you can’t balance your account. Here’s how:

  1. On the Reconciliation page, click Edit Info.

  2. Review the Ending Balance and Ending Date.
  3. Compare the balances with your bank statement.
  4. Make edits as needed.
  5. Once done, select Save.

If you're still unable to zero out your balance, review each transaction to ensure it has the correct amount that matches your bank statement.
