Has anyone had experience importing data / migrating from Surf Accounts to Quickbooks Online? How do you export the data into QB format?

Hi,

I've recently switched from Surf Accounts to Quickbooks Online and I'm looking to import all of my existing data, including customers, customer balances, purchase records, invoices and so on.

The file that Surf Accounts exports is a single XML file which I've been able to transform into an Excel file however it still doesn't seem to work for Quickbooks.

Does anyone have experience with a similar migration? Do I need to consult a third party to assist with the migration or does Quickbooks have a sufficient onboarding/migration team that can help with things like this?

Thanks,
Paul

You can export data out to XLS

then use a 3rd party tool to proceed starting from CoA, Lists, and Transactions.

Another option, consider buying a 3rd party conversion service. Contact me in private for details.

Thank you for considering QuickBooks Online for your business. I'll share information about importing data.

As of the moment, the functionality to directly import data from Surf Accounting is unavailable. Nevertheless, you have the option to import your account list, customers' and suppliers' names, and products and services into QuickBooks. Keep in mind that QuickBooks already has a pre-established list of account names, so you should only import those that aren't already included in the software. You can find more information in this article: Import data from other software into QuickBooks Online. Here's how:

1. Open the Accounting menu from the left pane.

2. Go to the Chart of accounts tab.

3. Review your account list (see screenshot below).

Regarding your transactions, you can link your bank account, which will automatically download the transactions. Or you can manually upload the transactions using a supported web connect file, which can be obtained from your bank's website. For further information on how to upload transactions, please refer to the provided resources.

I also agree with Fiat's suggestion about exporting your data out to SL and using a third-party application that you can integrate with qbo. This also allows you to get the data you want.

You'll want to also learn more about how you can get started with QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have any other questions about bringing your data to QuickBooks. I'll be around to back you and your business. Take care!
