QB Enterprise to QBO China

We are a QB Enterprise 2015 Service Edition Desktop US Edition user and want to switch to QBO China Version (we are based in China and only the China version is fast enough to use there). We have been trying for 3 months now to make the switch, but unfortunately have had a lot of problems. Does anyone have some advice with:

1. Regarding the possibility of designing multiple currencies with QBO, the response from QuickPro Hong Kong, a QB agent in Hong Kong, was that if we transfer data, we cannot use multiple currencies. We currently cannot switch our QB Desktop to multiple currency due to some errors in the file, but we definitely need multiple currency in QBO.

2. We now use the US dollar as the Chinese Yuan (CNY) as our base currency as we are using a single currency version. For QBO we want to change the base currency to be Chinese Yuan and change all the accounts currently in USD (though actually they are CNY we just always knew where it said USD it was actually CNY) to CNY at a rate of 1:1

3. Has anyone ever transferred a company file from QB Desktop Enterprise 2015 to QBO China edition? We had an accountant in the US and asked him to help us to do it, however he said he could not because the Chinese QBO is different to the US version and it requires a CSV file from the bank. Chinese banks cannot be linked to QB so this file does not exist. Anyone has any advice how to do this? Thanks a lot. We feel quite left alone here in Beijing and struggle to get advice. There is no Chinese language support at all available for QBO it seems and no reps available in Beijing or Shanghai either. Its really quite difficult.

Welcome aboard to the Community, @ChinaUser.

The Multicurrency feature is available in QuickBooks Online for China as long as you're using the Plus and Essentials versions. However, please know that importing the data from Desktop is currently unavailable.

For now, the only workaround is to move transactions manually via CSV. Additionally, once you subscribed to the correct country, the home currency is default to the Chinese Yuan.

To ensure you select the right one, please click this link (go to the Asia Pacific tab and select China): https://quickbooks.intuit.com/choose-country/.

In case you need the steps on how to turn on Multicurrency, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your QuickBooks account.
  2. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Choose Account and Settings.
  4. Go to the Advanced tab.
  5. Search for the Currency section.

For future reference, I recommend you visit the following articles about Multicurrency and importing transactions:

I want to make sure this is taken care of for you. If you have any other concerns, post a comment below. I’ll pop right back in to assist further. Have a good one.

You may utilize the multicurrency feature in QBO Plus Global version for China.

Keep in mind, for QBO users in HongKong, company provides another versions

If you didn't turn the multi currency feature on yet in your QB Desktop, QuickBooks will use the currency on your Windows setting as the default/home currency. Otherwise, you will need a 3rd party service to tunr the multi currency feature off.

3. Has anyone ever transferred a company file from QB Desktop Enterprise 2015 to QBO China edition?

We had our clients to purchase a 3rd party migration service to convert QB Desktop file to QB Online Global version in many Asian countries. Send your email address in private message to let me forward it the service provider. You may make a deal directly to them later.

Hope it helps.
