Can I add a column in the invoice template?

Glad to see you in the Community, userdebbie.

Adding a column in your invoice is unavailable in QBO at this time. However, if you’re not using some of the columns, you can edit the name and enter a new one.

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top and pick Custom form styles under Your Company.
  2. Select the invoice you’re working on from the list and press the Edit link under Action.
  3. Tap the Content tab and click your mouse to the body of the template.
  4. Then, press the EDIT LABELS AND WIDTHS link to see more information.add column.png
  5. From there, choose the column you want to modify and add a new name.add column.1.png
  6. Click Done to save the changes.

Here’s an article that covers all the details about this process: Customise invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

If the column is not in the main body of the transaction, you can consider using the Custom field feature to add another box. Here’s how:

  1. Choose the Gear icon at the top to select Custom form styles under Your Company.
  2. Pick the invoice you’re working on from the list and press the Edit link under Action.
  3. Tap the Content tab and click your mouse to the header of the template to view more details.
  4. Hit the Custom field link to expand it.add column.2.png
  5. Then, enter a name that will identify the field box.
  6. Press Done to keep the changes.

After following these steps, you’ll now see the newly added field in the invoice. Check out this article for additional information. The article is from another region but it also applies to your area: How to add custom fields to invoices.

Additionally, you can bookmark this link for future reference. It provides detailed instructions on how to design custom form styles for your sales transactions: Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates.

Keep in touch if you have any other concerns or questions. I’ll be glad to answer them for you. Enjoy the rest of the week.
