Can I add an account payable/revenue/expense account in currency other than my home currency?

My group operates in 2 countries and 2 currencies. I am trying to set up a chart of accounts. I am a retired bookkeeper, not an accountant. I want to have all accounts available in 2 currencies but it is not an option.

Can I add an account payable/revenue/expense account in currency other than my home currency?

Hi there, @Joanne-Adair.

QuickBooks Online supports multi-currency for bank accounts, customers, and vendors but accounts payable, revenue, and expense accounts are always managed in your home currency to ensure consistent reporting. Creating these accounts in foreign currencies is not supported at this time.

As a workaround, you can enable the Multi-currency feature. Note that this is only available in Essentials, Plus, and Advanced plans. If you use one of these eligible plans, you can assign different currencies to your customers and vendors and manage transactions with automatic conversions into your come currency,

While this helps manage transactions globally, I recommend sharing your thoughts to our Product Development Team to highlight how multi-currency options for accounts payable, revenue, and expenses would benefit your workflow. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon and select the Feedback option.
  2. Type in your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Click the Next button to submit feedback.

If you have additional questions about using the Multi-currency feature or need assistance setting it up, please don't hesitate to click the Reply button below.
