Can I see COS, GM and GM% value for, no-inventory and service items in the SALES BY PRODUCT/SERVICE SUMMARY REPORT? I need to track my service and non-inventory items?

Hello, Hesham73.

I'll share some details on how to handle your product/service report in QuickBooks Online.

Currently, the Sales by Product/Service Summary report will only display the COS, GM, and GM% for inventory item use on invoices and sales receipts.

As a workaround, you can export your report to excel. From there, you can customize it by manually calculating the gross margin (GM) and percentage to track sales for your services and non-inventory items.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Report menu.
  2. Run the Sales by Product/Service Summary report.
  3. Ensure it has the correct reporting period.
  4. At the top of the report, click the Export icon.
  5. Select Export to Excel.
  6. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.

I've also added this article to learn more about the gross margin: What is gross margin and how to calculate it.

In addition, check out this resource for the complete guide if you want to personalize your report to show only the information you need: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to reply to this post if you have further questions about reports. I'll be here to help you.

Thank you for the reply, as you stated "As a workaround, you can export your report to excel. From there, you can customize it by manually calculating the gross margin (GM) and percentage to track sales for your services and non-inventory items."

This not going to work because I do not have the COS for those items
