I noted a difference in quantity between sales and cost of sales for the same invoice.

Per checking the sales report and comparing it with the cost of sales report, I noted a specific invoice number with difference quantity per Sales report and Cost of sales report. What are the possible causes of this?

I noted a difference in quantity between sales and cost of sales for the same invoice.

We can investigate why there's a difference in quantity in the same invoice for both reports, finance.

When running reports for Sales and Cost of Sales report, the value in the Quantity column in an invoice should be the same for both reports. Whether the user modified it or not, still the same quantity will show in the reports.

To check if this is a browser issue or not, you can try accessing your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private or Incognito window. Then, run both reports to see if they have the same quantity number in the same invoice.

If it works, try clearing your browser's cache to remove the temporary Internet files. You can also use a different supported browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to be thorough.

If the same thing happens, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll investigate what's causing this issue.

Here's how to reach them:
  1. Click Help on the top menu.
  2. Choose Contact us.
  3. Enter difference in quantity for sales and cost of sales report in the What can we help you with? field.
  4. Click Let's talk.
  5. Choose Start an email to connect with us.
