I want to send my first QB invoice but I'd like to start from a specific invoice #.

I'm moving from another accounting app and would like to start my first invoice at 526, and then have it calculate automatically from there. How do I do this?

I want to send my first QB invoice but I'd like to start from a specific invoice #.

Setting a specific invoice number is easy in QuickBooks Online (QBO), finance. I'm here to guide you through the process.

 

QuickBooks has a built-in feature (Custom transaction numbers) where you can customize sales transaction numbers and set your own preference. This adds an Invoice no. field where you can enter any number or letter format you want. 

 

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Account and settings.
  2. Select Sales, then select anywhere within the Sales form content section.
  3. Turn on Custom transaction numbers.
  4. Select Save, then select Done.

 

After that, go to the + New button and create your very first invoice with QBO. Make sure to enter 526 in the Invoice no. field, and the rest will follow.

Once your customer pays the invoice, record the payment so your accounts stay balanced.
