How can I create a rule that will automatically apply Customer and Billable options?

When reviewing my transactions I would like to have an option to bulk "Confirm" with preset Customer selected and Billable option checked. I tried creating a Rule but I don't see those fields there. Similarly, when trying to use bulk action when selecting multiple transactions I don't see those options. How can I do this? (In orange are the options that I need to have automatically be preset. In the second screenshot I can't see these when creating a rule)

How can I create a rule that will automatically apply Customer and Billable options?

Thanks for getting in touch with us, @Steve261.

I'm here to help you diagnose the problem with rules not applying automatically in QBO. Here are some instances of why rules with the Auto-add option won't apply automatically:

• Ongoing issue or outage in QuickBooks Online.

• A limit of 1000 transactions can be auto-added at a time. The system will throw an exception if it exceeds the limit.

• The rule is damaged.

At the moment, there aren't any outages reported from Accountant users while using Bank Rules. You might want to check the number of entries and see if it exceeds the limitation or not.

If it doesn't and the bank entries are still stuck in the For Review tab, you may delete and recreate the rule to refresh the settings. Here's how:

1. From the left menu, click on Banking.

2. Go to the Rules tab.

3. Look for the rule then click the drop-down arrow beside Edit

4. Select Delete and Yes to confirm.

Kindly update this thread with the result, as I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you.

How can I create a rule that will automatically apply Customer and Billable options?

Hey, thank you for getting back to me and providing these details. I dont think you quite understood the problem I am having. The rules work. However, rules do not offer Customer and Billable options, because of that I still have to go manually though each transaction and mark them which Customer it belongs to and that it is Billable (check box, see screenshot in the original post). I am using Customer + Billable options in transaction review in order to track all expenses for a specific client and create invoices accordingly.

How can I create a rule that will automatically apply Customer and Billable options?

I appreciate you for getting back to this thread, @Steve261.

I recognize how relevant creating a rule that will automatically apply Customer and Billable options to your business is. However, this feature is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online.

In the meantime, you can continue to follow the workaround that you've been doing. Manually going through each transaction and marking which customer it belongs to and whether it is billable is the best alternative we have.

Otherwise, you can also make use of the Payee dropdown menu to select a customer. This way, the customer will be preset if he is using the bank rule. Please see the screenshot below for visual reference:

Additionally, let me share this link you can read to learn more about how bank rules work in QuickBooks: Set up bank rules to categorise online banking transactions.

Stay in touch if you have further questions on how you can manage matching rules in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help you again. Keep safe and have a pleasant day.

How can I create a rule that will automatically apply Customer and Billable options?

I would just like to point out that I require this feature as well. Is there any particular reason that all other fields are addressed in the rule except for the billable checkbox?

Is there a location to send feature requests to?

Thanks!
