We can't find particular accounts in mapping list

We're currently importing CSV files, but the accounts under "Cost of Sales" are missing from the list, while other accounts like expenses and income appear correctly. How can we resolve this issue?

We can't find particular accounts in mapping list

The account must be added and active in your Chart of Accounts before it will appear when mapping imported data, Dage. I’ll provide a series of steps to help you ensure you can see it when importing data into QuickBooks Online.

First, please verify whether the Cost of Sales account is set up and not marked as inactive in the Chart of Accounts. Here’s how you can do that:

  1. Go to your Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click the small Gear icon ⚙ next to the Printer icon. Then, choose Include inactive.
  3. If the account is inactive, click Make active to reactivate it.

If you can't see it, it means that the account is not yet added to your Chart of Accounts. Follow these steps on how to set it up:

  1. Click New in the upper-right-hand corner.
  2. Type in the name of the account in the Account name field.
  3. Select Cost of sales in the Account Type, then choose the most appropriate type in the drop-down list for Detail Type.
  4. Fill in all remaining fields and select Save and Close.

After that, import your CSV file or go back to the mapping list to check if you can already see the Cost of Sales account.
