Upgrading your QuickBooks Online plan is quick and easy. At times, the collected cache files on your browser may lead to unexpected behavior like the one that you've experienced upon upgrading the program.
To get this issue sorted out, I recommend accessing your account on a private window. Here's how:
If you're able to upgrade via the private window, you may go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This removes the unnecessary file on your account and refreshes your data.

Before upgrading your current (trial) plan, I'd first recommend subscribing to QuickBooks Online (QBO). This way, you'll be able to remove and fix the error message you encountered. Let me guide you how.
I've attached screenshots below that shows the second to fifth steps.

Also, with the Accounts and Settings menu, you can manage your company details, view your subscription, update your credit card, and make changes to your billing information. Kindly refer to this article for the complete information: How to update your subscription and billing details.

If you are in trial account, just open a new account to try. If you have to open a new QBO account, make sure to click the Buy button to get the discounted price for up to certain months. If you purchase from the trial account, you have to pay the regular price.
