Good day, villeladner1,

The investigation has been resolved. You should now be able to inactivate these workers.

Please let me know if you're able to do it.

I am trying to make 2 of my workers inactive but keep getting an error.

Good Evening,

I receive the same error when trying to mark a contractor as inactive.  I called Quickbooks help desk last week and was given this case number, [removed] because the issue couldn't be resolved at the time.  The error message reads, "Unable to mark contractor inactive
Something went wrong. Please wait a moment and try again. If the problem continues, contact us."

We tried using an incognito chrome tab, cleared all cookies and cache, and I tried doing the same with Microsoft edge; however, there was no fix.

~MaryLurleenM, It looks like you may have had success in the past and I would appreciate the help.

I know it could be frustrating to be held up like this when you just want to get your job done, @bwkimmell,

Joining the thread to share some more insights about this situation. The error Unable to mark contractor inactive when To make their contractor inactive is still an ongoing issue with QBO USA users. Our engineers are aware of this and the investigation is in place. We don't have the exact turn around time on when this will be fixed.

Rest assured, our support team sends live updates of the current status of the issue through email. To add your account to the notification list, I recommend contacting our Support Team.

To contact us, follow these steps below:

  1. Go to the (?) Help menu and click on Contact Us.
  2. Use the keyword Payroll, Account Management and Billing to get a live agent.
  3. On the next screen, scroll down to the Choose a way to connect with us section.
  4. Choose Start messaging to initiate a discussion with a live agent or Get a call for callbacks.

When using the messaging option, a small discussion box will open at the bottom right section of your monitor. An agent will be with you after filling in the information. See this:

Provide this investigation number INV-54240 to our representatives so they can add your account there.

We appreciate your patience while this is being worked on. Feel free to reach out back again if you have any questions about QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.

I am trying to make 2 of my workers inactive but keep getting an error.

I went to Vendors and clicked on a Vendor, selected the 'Edit' menu, and was able to make the contractor inactive that way. Hope that helps!!
