Moving Data from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop – Error 1009?

Hello everyone, I'm trying to move a company data file from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop using the steps outlined in this official Intuit guide: Move data from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop Product: Intuit QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 24.0 Release R13P (64-bit) Despite following the instructions carefully, I consistently encounter the following error during the migration process: Error 1009 – Internal Error: Unknown Exception Steps I've Already Taken: Restarted machines Installed QuickBooks on a machine with no previous installation Forced an update to the latest version Tried re-exporting the QuickBooks Online data with a new data request Regardless of these efforts, the 1009 error still occurs. 🧩 What I’ve Observed: The error consistently appears around 94% of the way through the process using the QuickBooks Desktop Migration Tool. After the error occurs, the newly created company file appears blank. If I close QuickBooks Desktop and relaunch the company file, it does contain data from the QBXML file. However, after performing some basic checks, I’ve noticed discrepancies in the data being presented. Has anyone else run into this issue or found a reliable workaround?

Moving Data from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop – Error 1009?

Hi there, CoreSync.

I can see that a similar question about an error when migrating data was also asked in a separate thread earlier. Let me route you to this link so you can read the response and follow the recommended steps: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/re-moving-data-from-quickbooks-onl...

@CoreSync

It seems your data in QB Online is too complex to be converted properly by the tool. You should consider purchasing a 3rd party conversion service. You can ask for a refund if the results are not satisfactory.
