My company file is full of old data from 2019. I recently resubscribed, but all the old data came back. How do I start the company fresh?

My QuickBooks company file is full of old data from 2019. I recently resubscribed, but all the old customers, invoices, and transactions came back. I want to start completely fresh. Please reset or purge my company file from your end so I can set up QuickBooks again with a blank file.”

The ability to purge or delete a company file depends on your subscription level and whether you’ve been using QuickBooks for more than 60 days, Ali.

Currently, QuickBooks Online (QBO) does not offer the option to purge or delete an existing company file on our end. However, we can guide you through the steps you can take to start fresh.

Since you’ve resubscribed to an account from 2019, you’ll need to cancel your current QBO company and create a new one to get a clean start. You can use the same credentials to set up your new QBO account.

To cancel your account, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings and go to Subscription and billing.
  2. Click Cancel and then hit the Continue to cancel button.

Once your current account is canceled, you can create a new QBO account:

  1. Visit the QuickBooks Online page.
  2. Choose the same plan and sign up using the same credentials.
  3. Follow the prompts to finish the subscription process.

After completing these steps, you’ll be able to set up your new company and start fresh.
