Dashboard showing incorrect expenses and provit as result of a voided account

Due to problems reconciling my credit card and chequeing account, I thought I would create a creditcard2 and chequing2 account and start from scratch, but this seems to have made matters worse. Now when I go to dashboard its showing me double my expenses and income, even though I voided these 2 newly created accounts.

When I go to expenses, there are 2 new entries, credit card expense and cheque expense with memo 'created by QB online to adjust balance for deletion. In both these transactions, I see that they are from the creditcard2 and chequing2 that I created.

I am unable to void them as I get "Error occured while voiding transaction with id: [292]"

I am unable also unable to void or delete them as it says they are related to an account that is inactive, please make active.

Now after making them active, I am able to delete the expense entries. But then when I make them inactive again, these 2 expense entries come back up. I am stuck in a vicious loop

Dashboard showing incorrect expenses and provit as result of a voided account

I tried using incognito window, but it turns out the issue wasnt my cache as I had the exact same issue.

I then fixed the issue by reactivating the credit2 and chequing2 accounts, then manually delete all the transactions then again void those two accounts. As long as the transactions are 0 in those accounts, when you void them, they wont add to expenses. I think this is a bug, as you would think that when you void an account, you dont want any of its data interfering with your regular accounts.

Dashboard showing incorrect expenses and provit as result of a voided account

Thank you for providing such a thorough description of your concern, drizzt395.

A transaction, such as an expense, should be permanently removed from the system once it has been deleted.

When navigating through QuickBooks, your browser's speed may be impacted by the overloaded stored data that occurs frequently. We can validate browser-related difficulties in this mode because it doesn't utilise the cache data that is already there.

Let's start by logging in using an incognito or private browser. Since this doesn't store data in the cache, it the best place to isolate browser issues. Kindly use either of the following shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome, press CTRL  + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press CTRL  + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: press CTRL  + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Then try running the two reports again. if both statements match, you may want to clear the browsing history of your regular web browser. This will remove previously-stored browsing data that might have caused the issue. Otherwise, you can try using other supported browsers to be thorough.
