How to delete permanently unreconciled transactions in bank reconciliation tab?

Hi there, @verldeluna.

I'd like to shed some light on how to delete a transaction and provide information on how to deactivate them.

Maintain a simple and well-organized chart of accounts. If you no longer intend to use an account, you can deactivate them. Since we cannot delete an account permanently, QuickBooks inactivates accounts rather than deleting them so that you can access previous transaction data for reporting purposes.

Here's how:

When you're ready to deactivate an account:

  1. Select Chart of accounts from the Settings menu.
  2. Locate the account you wish to delete.
  3. Choose to Make inactive from the Action dropdown.

I've included this link for your reference in making an account inactive on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

I would recommend consulting with an accountant before making the corrections to your COA. They will ensure that your books and depositor balances are correct and up to date.

Optionally, learn about the chart of accounts and why it's critical to get it right in QuickBooks Online.

If you'd like to run reports or record other entries, feel free to add the details to your reply. I'm always here to help. Have a good one.
