Hi All,
We have created a Standard User and found below observations:
Standard User Rights | Dashboard | Banking | Invoicing | Expenses | Employees | Reports | Taxes | Accounting |
All | Allowed | Allowed | Allowed | Allowed | Allowed | Allowed | Allowed | Allowed |
Only Customers | Limited | Not Allowed | Allowed | Not Allowed | Not Allowed | Limited | Not Allowed | Not Allowed |
Only Suppliers | Limited | Not Allowed | Limited | Allowed | Allowed | Limited | Not Allowed | Not Allowed |
Both (Customers & Suppliers) | Allowed | Not Allowed | Allowed | Allowed | Not Allowed | Limited | Not Allowed | Not Allowed |
There seems a bug – If Employees section is accessible if Standard user is provided limited access with Only Suppliers selection (via checkbox check marked) – then why the Employees section is NOT accessible if Standard user is provided limited access with both the Suppliers and the Customers (both checkbox check marked).
Kindly confirm if there is understanding issue or system’s bug.
Regards,
Abdul Rehman.

We appreciate you for providing an observation table, Abdul Rehman.
The Employee section is only accessible if you choose the limited access rights for Suppliers only. This right access setup asks you for Time tracking settings if your employee or supplier submits their timesheets.
However, if you choose the limited access for Customers only or both Customers and Suppliers, then the users can't access the Employee section.

Hi,
Please guide that what will be charges if I don't want to allow access of Employee if only Supplier check box is check marked against Standard user setup?
Regards,
Abdul Rehman.
Good to hear from you, Abdul Rehman.
The option to restrict the users to access the Employee section when choosing the Suppliers access rights is unavailable. You can only hinder the users to access it if you choose the limited access for Customers only or both Customers and Suppliers.
You can always go back to this thread if you need anything else with user's access rights. I'm always here to help.
Hi,
I do agree with you. Now my query is that if we need certain type of customization in any functionality or report etc. then what will be the cost for that change(s). Or QBO doesn't support any customization in the product and user has to use it as is.
Regards,
Abdul Rehman.
There are no additional charges when editing a user's access in QBO, Abdul.
However, you can only select the existing types and scope of access given in the articles that were shared by RCV. I'll be sending feature request to our engineers about adding more options when setting up user access.
They always consider customer feedback and requests whenever updates are designed.
Please continue to post questions in the Community. The QuickBooks Team is always here to guide you.
Hi JenoP,
Probably my query was not clear. However, I am sharing my understanding for your review and feedback.
1. "Means if any customization is needed in intended functionality then the requirement will be incorporated in next/updated version of the product and user will wait till that time"
Or
"QBO team will charge for the customization for the requesting user only"
2. "If any user needs to develop own customized report - then how QBO team will facilitate to do so. Will the QBO team provide access to respective db/tables"
Or
"The new customized report will be incorporated in the list of available reports in next version"
Or
"QBO team will charge to create the customized report and provide to requesting user only"
Regards,
Abdul Rehman.
hi @Abdul Rehman ,
There are so many add-on for QBO in the market. Let us know what kind of feature in QBO do you want to replace or integrate with.
I think you are in the international version where the standard user for limited rights for customers and supplier can view the transaction in expenses as well as the transaction details by accounts ( which is supposed to limit for an accountant)
In the standard user with Limited Rights could not generate any inventory reports as well as some of the reports such as Sales by Products /Service Summary . stock take worksheet.
Inthe who owes you; Invoices and receive payments and open invoices report is missing.
However, in US version, the admin user could assign different standard user role for different rights.
Please advice if the international team has any plan for an improved version, cause the current version does not seem right for the standard user to have rights to be able to see sensitive information such as bank transactions.
Thank you for posting here in the Community, @hktan.
Let me share what I know about the access rights in QuickBooks Online.
Right now, updates for the standard user access are still unavailable for the International version. I know how crucial for other users being able to see sensitive information.
We always update the features in QuickBooks Online, and this preference might be considered in the future. For the time being, you can visit our blog and sign up to our Newsletter.

Hi
Yes, I believe your developer team is working on it.
The user rights issues where standard user can access to sensitive information such as transaction details by account including cheques but cannot have access to inventory summary and details report must make known to the potential buyer unless you are getting it fixed soon. Otherwise, it is going to be disastrous.
Thank You
Just to add on to my earlier comment on the QuickBooks international version:
For those who subscribe to Plus version, only admin and master admin can generate inventory report but not the standard user.
The standard user (with supplier rights or both customer and supplier right) can generate cheque and expense transaction (including paycheck) to view and made changes.
Hope to the developer team can come up with a solution soon.
Thank You
Hi there, @Dennis41.
Welcome to this conversation. At the moment, you can only set what is available access for the standard users. Below are the different levels of od access that you can set for them:
You'll want to learn more about what a standard user can and can't do, read through this article: User types and user permissions in QuickBooks Online. It provides a detailed look at the levels of access I mentioned above.
For future reference, check out this article and learn about the maximum number of users you can add on your plan: How many users can I set up?.
