Browser will not open a transaction from a report

In Safari, Firefox and Chrome

From a saved Quickbooks Online transaction report, I click on a transaction to open it.  It opens for viewing or edit.  I close transaction and the window returns to the open report.  I click on another transaction and it will not open the transaction.  If I click window refresh in browser, the transaction displays.  I've tried this in 3 browsers, same.  I see something flash in the lower left corner of the window from Intuit but its so fast I can't read.

I installed Ventura iOS yesterday.

Browser will not open a transaction from a report

Thank you for telling us about your scenario, and I also appreciate for effort in looking for a workaround, @user00552.

I'm here to assist you in troubleshooting and determining what's preventing you from completing tasks within the Reports menu. Let's get started.

It seems like browser or cache issues keep interfering with QuickBooks Online. These events can cause problems with the software's features by disrupting the cloud. To minimize the error you've encountered, we can try the troubleshooting methods I recommend below.

1. Try Logging into QuickBooks Online using a private browser.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

2. Next, let's Clear the browser cache if you can open the transactions in a private window. It indicates a minor bug in the regular browser you've been using.

If everything is okay, we can proceed with running reports. Get some additional insight by clicking this article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

We can also use various reports and forecasts to get a clear overview of your current and future business funds. In your free time, visit this page for your guide: Track your cash flow in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know how the above steps work out for you. I'd also like to help if you need assistance with customizing reports. You can leave a comment below, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Keep yourself safe!

I will but in my experience, you better have an hour to explain the issue, they will want to mirror my computer so they can see it and we usually can't get it to work on my MAC. . . . I will try.  Thanks

Both my coworker and I hare having the same issue. It happened a few weeks ago for a couple of days and then it quit happening. Started happening a gain last Thursday and appears that the issue has not resolved itself. I have tried clearing browsing history, etc to no avail. Please let me know if you find a fix.

I have been having this same issue in Chrome and Firefox since last Thursday. I cleared my browsers cookies and history. This worked for one transaction to open, but then the issue resumed. QB - you all need to fix this.

AlcaeusF,

This is pretty obviously a system glitch.  where do you suggest I report such a thing? I am not excited about spending  hours of time I don't have to sit on the phone with an Intuit support person who does not understand the issue. This is not operator error. This is a problem with the software. I cannot imagine this has not yet been reported. I have had several clients mention this. All of my staff are having the same issue. This is not isolated to one browser on one machine.

been having this same issue for weeks and it's really frustrating.

Using chrome on mac - all software is current. Doesn't matter which client i'm in or what subscription they have.

PLEASE FIX!

I've been in contact with QBO support since 8 days ago. I've sent a video of the issue and they said that I'm the first one to report such thing, I don't even know if that's true. I almost thought it was my device's problem but I tried looking it up online and saw many people are encountering the same issue. Such an inconvenience.

This is beyond inconvenience. Our firm does ALOT of QBO cleanup for clients. this issue basically means we cannot do our work. these are the issues that drive us away from Intuit products.

called Intuit.  Spent an hour going over testing with them on Glance in Safari and Chrome.  In Chrome,  clear All Browsing Data, and close Chrome.  Open new Chrome session in Incognito mode.  I was able to open Sales receipts, Transfer, Expense) repetatively without issue.  Tried the same in Safari, the problem still exists.  Followup call with Intuit scheduled for tomorrow EDT to continue their reporting process  . . . So tiring reporting issues . . .

You're an absolute legend. Thanks for supporting all the folks who have this issue with your time and patience.

I updated my OS last night, attempted to update Chrome but still running current version.
Cleared all browser cache, tried incog, same issue.

Let me know if I can Venmo you coffee money.

I have not had time to spend an hr on the phone with them but unless someone does they won’t listen. My take is that Their engineers won’t work on it unless a phone call is made to a tech. I am still using Chrome in incognito without issue.

Anyone else that's still experiencing the same problem? QBO is claiming that the issue has been resolved and I'm the only one that's still complaining.

This isn't the impression I want to leave you with,  samontecas.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) works on any browser and it uses browser cache and cookies to run faster but sometimes these can also block web pages from loading.

If you've already verified and performed the steps shared, I suggest contacting our Customer Care Team. They can run a remote viewing session to help identify the root cause of this matter and apply a fix.

You may visit this article to learn more about how to run a report in QBO:

I am still having the issue yes. It seems Intuit/ QBO is actively ignoring it at this point. The issue is not just transactions. It is for any link inside the software; i.e.opening reports, quick links from reports, links to add file access to different users, etc. Users should not have to clear their cookies & cache after 2 or 3 actions in any kind of software. That Intuit has not addressed this is ridiculous. I switched to the app so I can actually get work done. The app seems to work smoothly. This issue seemed to come up after QBO did a recent update. Makes me wonder if they are just forcing us to move to the app.

Good job on using the QuickBooks app as your workaround, @rdeboard. Let’s sort this out as I walk you through the process of reaching out the department that best handles this.

Before proceeding, are you getting any error message upon selecting a transaction or links from the report? This helps us check if there's a reported case about this one.

To clarify, you don't need to switch to the app as you can access your QuickBooks Online account here. This will help you run your business on the go—anytime, anywhere.

I understand the convenient of reviewing your transactions and links associated in a report. With this, I highly suggest contacting our Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account and investigate this issue further. Please know that our live chat is available 24 hours GMT from Monday-Friday.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Help icon.
  2. Choose the Search tab and then Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern.
  4. Hit Continue.

You’ll want to visit these guides to know more about personalizing reports to get the data you need:

In case you want to keep a copy of your report, you can go to the Print reports section on this article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

I’d love to hear any update on how the call goes. I'll be here if you have other QuickBooks concerns. Stay safe and have a good one.

Why does there need to be a workaround? Why can't your engineers just fix the bug? The program is not properly working and its very disappointing
