I am getting this error message when I try to upload a csv file to my reconciliation report: "We can’t upload this type of file: StripeActivityreport1124.csv" Why?

Documentation says QBO accepts cvs files. I'm also getting the same message when I try to upload an Excel workbook file. Is there something in the name of the file that is causing a problem?

I am getting this error message when I try to upload a csv file to my reconciliation report: "We can’t upload this type of file: StripeActivityreport1124.csv" Why?

The file name is not the cause of the issue, Treasurer. Let's resolve the error when importing your CSV files using the details below.

An error like this occurs when your file has incorrect mapping or formatting. Hence, I recommend reviewing your CSV file to ensure it follows the format QuickBooks accepts.

You can upload CSV files in either a 3-column or 4-column format. These are the only column configurations that QuickBooks can process and must be in this order.

However, if the issue persists, utilize a private browser to verify whether it's a browser-related issue. Use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command+Shift+N
  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+Shift+N

Verify if you can now upload your csv file. If this works, please clear the cache of your standard browser to remove accumulated data.
