Is there a way to sort your AR report results? I'm wanting to sort by column name so I can have it alphabetical.

Organising the results of your AR report by column name can effectively enhance your ability to manage and analyse your accounts receivable data, Swebb. I’d be glad to discuss the current capabilities of the AR report in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In QBO, the AR reports can be customised to some extent. However, sorting by column name in an alphabetical order directly within the report is unavailable.

Yet, you can sort the specific column on your report such as Customer so you can see their names in the first column:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Go to the Reports tab.
  3. Search for AR report.
  4. Click on the Customise button.

  5. Click the Rows/Columns dropdown.
  6. Grab the Customer column and put it on the top.

  7. Click Run report.

However, to fully sort the customer names in alphabetical order, we'll have to export the report to Excel and organise the data outside QBO:

  1. Click on the Export icon.
  2. Select the Export to Excel button.

  3. Once in Excel, you can sort the data alphabetically by any column you choose.

Furthermore, you can create memorised AR reports with scheduled email reminders for customer statements in QBO. This allows your customers to be notified of their outstanding statements, helping you stay on top of your accounts, and ensuring timely payments.

Sorting reports alphabetically streamlines the process of retrieving and analysing data, allowing you to work more efficiently. If you have any questions in mind about managing reports, I'm just a few clicks away and ready to help.
