How to add GSTIN for customers

GST is a location-based tax. Ensure you have the right shipping address of your customers in order to determine the right tax type.

In the GST regime, you will be required to provide the GSTIN for your customers in your invoice. Here’s how you can do it:

Add a customer for the first time in QuickBooks:

  1. Go to Sales and select Customers.
  2. Select Add a customer and add customer’s details.
  3. Add GSTIN in Tax Info tab.
  4. Select Save.

Add GSTIN of an existing customer:

  1. Go to Sales and select Customers.
  2. To add the customer’s GSTIN, click on the Customer’s name, and select Edit.
  3. Select Tax Info in Customer Information.
  4. Go to GSTIN. Enter your customer’s GSTIN.
  5. Select Save.
  6. Repeat the process with every customer to add a corresponding GSTIN.

Add GSTIN of a new customer:

  1. Go to Sales and select Customers.
  2. Select New Customer button on top right.
  3. Select Tax Info in Customer Information.
  4. Go to GSTIN. Enter your customer’s GSTIN.
  5. Add other details - Name, Address, Billing, etc.
  6. Select Save.
