How to turn off the tax in QuickBooks?

Hey there, Userfang. Let me share the steps in turning off your taxes.

Please know that turning off sales tax is only available if you don't have any existing transactions that have sales tax. If you have any, you would need to remove them from the system.

Here's how to turn off sales tax:

  1. Go to the Sales Tax Center from the Taxes menu.
  2. Select Edit Sales tax settings under Related Tasks.
  3. Click the Do you charge sales tax? question, select No.
  4. Hit Save.

Here are the steps to remove a VAT or GST rate if you no longer use it. The removed tax rate won't be deleted to ensure your reports remain accurate. Follow these steps:

  1. From the left menu, select Taxes.
  2. Select Edit VAT or Edit GST, then choose Edit Rates.
  3. Find the tax rate you want to deactivate, then switch it from On to Off.
  4. Press Yes.
