Entering an opening balance when setting up an account is the easiest time to record. Here's how:
- Click Accounting, then go to Chart of Accounts.
- Select New.
- Choose the Account Type and Detail Type.
- Enter a desired name.
- Add the opening balance in the Balance field, then select the date in the as of field.
- Click Save and close.
If the account already existed, you can enter an opening balance by creating a journal entry.
