I appreciate you for removing the duplicate bank entries on your account. To resolve out of balance in your register, we'll need to review the actual bank statement. Then, compare it on what transactions are downloaded in QuickBooks Online (QBO) if there are missing transactions we need to enter or duplicate ones need to remove.
If there are missing ones, just enter them manually into your account. Just check out the Enter historical information article for the steps and details. However, if the out of balance is caused by duplicate entries, just exclude them to completely remove the transactions in QBO. Let me show you how:
Here are tips that I can share to avoid duplicates in your register:

Hello - thanks for responding. My problem is with transfers between my two accounts. When one account balances the other is out & same the other way around. I found a heap of duplicates in one account so I deleted them & then the other account was out. I then tried excluding transactions & perhaps it was a mistake but I then deleted the excluded ones, which didn't help. Then I imported the transactions again but wasn't sure if the credit amount should go under "Credit" or "Debit" in the QB system. And basically I still can't figure out how to get the accounts to balance. A lot of the transfers are also listed as "deposits" which they're not & I can't seem to change them to read "transfer".
I really would appreciate getting this sorted soon.
Many thanks again!!
Julie
Thanks for coming back, userinfo93.
QuickBooks Online (QBO) uses double-entry accounting, which means each transaction or event changes two or more accounts in the ledger. Each of these changes involves a debit and a credit applied to one or more accounts. To learn more about this one, see the How accounts are affected by debits and credits article.
To change the deposits to transfers, we'll have to manually delete the deposit and record it as a bank transfer to correct this. You can refer to the Transfer funds between bank accounts article for the steps and details about handling a bank transfer.

Hello again
I tried contacting support via both the call-back option (they said they'd call back in 5 minutes, over 2 hours ago) and via online chat (they said the wait was 5 minutes over 2 hours ago). I'd really like some help with this but I'm still finding that every time I delete a duplicate transaction in one account it puts the other account out and I cannot figure out how to balance both accounts. The offending transactions are transfers between the two accounts.
All help is much appreciated.
Thanks.
Julie
Hi Julie,
Thank you for reaching out and welcome to our community!
Based on what you mentioned, I think some of the transfer transactions were recorded correctly in QuickBooks Online. Here I found an article on recording bank transfers for your reference:
