I am having trouble connecting my bank account to QuickBooks. Is the bank ID my CRN? I went to my bank today to ask them and they had no idea and couldn’t assist me.

I'm here to ensure you can connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @southgippslandcl.

Before doing so, may I know the name of your bank? Knowing this will help me provide you with the necessary information.

When connecting your bank account to QBO, you need to enter the bank username or banking user ID and password you use on your bank's website. However, the process may vary depending on the financial institution and its connection method to QBO.

In your case, I suggest contacting your bank again since they are the ones who can assist and verify your bank ID. Once done, you can enter the correct details in QBO to connect your bank account successfully. Here's how:

  1. In the left menu, click Transactions.
  2. Go to the Banking transactions tab, then choose Link Account
  3. Search for your bank or enter your bank's URL.
  4. Click Continue, then sign in to your bank by entering your banking user ID and password.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps and select any accounts you want to connect (savings, transaction, or credit card).
  6. Choose the matching account type from your chart of accounts in QuickBooks.
  7. Select how far back you want to download transactions.
  8. Click Connect once done.

Once connected, it's important to categorise your transactions to put them into the correct accounts. Then, I suggest reconciling your bank account monthly to ensure it matches your real-life bank statement.
