How can I set up bank account without connecting bank? I wanted to set up Petty Cash account as a "Bank". However, it seems that I have to connect bank to set up bank ac?

You can set up an account from the Accounting panel.  This way, it'll not ask you to connect your bank. 

Here's how:

1. Click Accounting on the left panel.
2. Select Chart of Accounts section.
3. Click New at the right top.
4. In the Name field, enter Petty Cash to name the account.
5. Click the Drop-down arrow in the Account Type to choose type of account.
6. Choose the detail type by clicking the Drop-down arrow.
7. Enter a description for the account.
8. Click Save and Close.

Welcome to this conversation, @Rossco1. To clarify, if you want to create an account without connecting to your actual bank, you can follow the steps provided by my colleague, @SarahannC. 

However, if you want to connect your bank account in QuickBooks, you can follow these steps below: 

1. Select Transactions in the navigation bar. 
2. Click New Account on the top right. 
3.  Choose your financial institution (FI) from this page. 
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the bank or card you want to connect to. 
5. Choose Standard connection, then enter your bank sign-in info and click Connect. QuickBooks connects to your bank.

Once connected, QuickBooks automatically download your bank data. You can then review to match and categorize downloaded transactions. Should you opt for direct connect, follow the steps in this topic: If your account will use a direct-feed connection outlined in this help article: Add and connect to a bank or credit card account.

See this is the problem, You have just copied a page and posted it. You did not address the problem how to set Petty Cash up as a separate account like a Credit Card. Then on your reply  say to go to your collegs adress that don't work.

When you create an account we have the option to connect it or not. Also, to setup a Petty Cash account, we'll use the Cash on hand type and name it as Petty Cash to easily identify it. I also suggest reaching out to an accountant in setting it up correctly depending on our business preference.
