Hi Vertical Forest and Woodlot,
Can I please clarify if you are wanting to remove the notification to upgrade your feed or if you are needing to disconnect the bank feed entirely?
Thanks,
Rebecca
Thanks for replying.
Neither of those items you mention.
What we want is Quickbooks to NOT add the green suggested coding in category or match column.
The match function works well, but the suggestions (i.e green text where quickbooks has determined that a certain supplier should be a certain code) do not.
90% of the time it is wrong, and it just distracts the user from looking at what the transaction was and coding to the correct account. It is too easy to accidentally code to the wrong account.

Kristan
Hi Kristan,
Thank you for clarifying. The best way to do this is to navigate to your Banking For Review section and to the small settings icon on the right side.
In here you should see check boxes to 'show suggested rules' and 'remember category selection'. You can choose to untick these to turn them off.
I would also double check that you don't have any Rules set up in the Banking tab.
Thanks,
Rebecca
Mine says: Enable suggested categorization but I was able to get them turned off. Worked great, thank you. I've had to go back and fix hundreds of incorrect rules because of the Suggestions.
Never mind. The annoying Suggested Rule pop ups are back again. I don't understand why Intuit doesn't listen to it's clients who clearly DO NOT like this useless feature that doesn't work! The Rules created using the Suggestion are created wrong and DO NOT WORK. Rules must have been created by someone who doesn't have to use the product. Since Intuit isn't going to fix it, they need to have it removed altogether.
I totally agree. The suggested categories are rarely correct. Even the Description and Payee are rarely correct. It causes frustration and is incredibly inefficient. I have tried the guidance on how to prevent this, but it does not work.
Are there any other workarounds to try? Preferably one that works!!
I understand that this hasn't been easy for you, pamela22.
Once your transactions are downloaded, QuickBooks usually selects the category closest to the data sent by your financial institution. The more QBO downloads your bank transactions and uses your bank rules, the better it gets at categorizing.
However, if it doesn't work for you, you may turn off the suggested categorization feature. This way, you'll be able to set the accurate category for your transactions. I'll show you how:
I'd also encourage sending feedback to Product Development Team. Your suggestions and ideas will help us enhance the functionalities that our customers need the most. Here's how:
You can always find me here if you have additional questions about bank feeds. Looking forward to helping you out again.
I have no rules set up and "Enable suggested categorization" is not checked. Yet the suggestions (most of the time incorrect) continue to populate. What do I do now to discontinue these suggestions?
I can help you with disabling suggested categorisation in your bank feeds in QuickBooks Online, @pamela22.
The suggested categories are based on how other businesses categorise transactions of a similar nature. However, you can always edit and add the correct category before adding it. After making sure that you've unchecked the Enable suggested categorisation option, try clearing your browser's cache.
The inconsistency you have with the categories can be caused by the piled-up cache in your regular browser. It stores temporary internet files from your browsing history. As it collects too many files, it can cause performance issues in your account.
I've got some steps to help fix this issue. First, sign in to your QBO account using a private browser. This helps isolate the issue since it doesn’t store data in the cache. Here are the following keyboard shortcuts:
If it works, here's how to clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online. Restart your browser right after.
You can also try to log in to your account using other supported browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge) if the steps above didn’t work.
After categorising your transactions, here's how to review your accounts in QuickBooks to make sure they match your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
If you still have questions regarding turning off suggested categorisation in your bank feeds, don't be hesitant to leave a reply below. I'm always here to help. Have a great rest of the day and be safe!
